Registration opens on June 23 and you have until August 30 to read and log your minutes.

Teen's Summer Reading at SSPL

The Teen Summer Reading Program is for teens ages 12-18 (or going into 7th grade)

Register online through ReadSquared, download the app, and start reading!

Registration opens on June 23 and you have until August 30 to read and log your books on your bingo board.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Growing Strong Readers: 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is an early literacy program offered by the Library to promote reading to children from birth to age five. This is a self-paced, on-going program in which caregivers engage with books with their children. The Parents and Caregiver's mission helps caregivers find additional resources to support their child's reading journey.

Fear the Library

Fear the Library 2025

Fear the Library is a horror themed reading program for kids, teens, and adults. Register online through ReadSquared, or pick up your tracking card at the information desk and start reading! Registration opens on September 29th, and you have until October 31st to complete 4 activities, which can be any combination of reading horror books/short stories and/or attending any of the Fear the Library events listed below.

What should I read? Any horror novel or scary story! Check out our LibGuide of titles for inspiration!

What programs should I attend? Choose from any of the following programs:

• 10/15 Haunted Saratoga Walking Ghost Tour for Kids & Families

• 10/15 Teen Bite Club: Edible Eyeballs

• 10/16 Teen Crafternoon: Creepy Coffins

• 10/18 Drop-In Craft: Bead Spiders (kids)

• 10/21 - 10/22 Teen Crafternoon: Halloween Perler Beads

• 10/25 Drop-in Craft: Sugar Skull Ornaments (kids)

• 10/27 Teen Halloween Party

• 10/28 Blood on the Clocktower - A Social Deduction Game for Adults

• 10/30 Teen Crafternoon: Haunted Rock Painting

• 10/31 Halloween Trick or Treat (kids)

• 10/31 Bagels & Barks (all-ages!)

What are the prizes? If you can complete 4 Fear the Library activities (any combination of: reading horror books/short stories and/or attending spooky themed library programs), teens and adults get a Fear the Library drawstring bag, and children who complete the challenge will receive a plushie of their choosing! All while supplies last.
